Khaled and Mohammed Al Jabouri are brothers who fled Al Zab town, with their family, in 2015 due to rising tensions between the Iraqi authorities and the Islamic State. The family subsequently settled in “Silo pilgrims”, a camp for displaced persons, in Hajjaj, Iraq.
On August 28, 2016, the Intelligence forces of the Salaheddine Operations Command raided the camp and arrested several people, including Khaled and Mohammed Al Jabouri. Several family members witnessed the arrest and no arrest warrants were presented. Three days later, a former detainee informed the family that he had seen the Al Jabouri brothers and that they were detained at a detention centre of the Intelligence forces of the Salaheddine Operations Command which was situated in Salaheddine.
On May 7, 2020, MENA Rights Group and the Iraqi War Crimes Documentation Center requested the urgent intervention of the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances, urging the Iraqi authorities take urgent action to locate them, place them under the protection of the law, and identify the perpetrators.
The Al Jabouri brothers’ fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
