On May 21, 2014 at 2:30 p.m., officers of the SWAT forces dressed in black uniform and of the intelligence forces dressed in green-spotted uniform – some of whom were wearing masks – scaled the external fence of Al Jabouri’s family home in Dora, and broke down the front door. They then proceeded to arrest him without a warrant.

The officers confiscated Al Jabouri’s mobile devices and identity cards. After forcing him into their white Salvador pickup trucks, three officers re-entered the house and attempted to arrest his father. However, they ceased their operation after Al Jabouri’s mother pleaded with them.

The SWAT and intelligence officers informed Al Jabouri’s family that he was under investigation by the Department of Intelligence, and that he would be released once the investigation was completed.

A week after his arrest, Al Jabouri’s relatives made a number of enquiries about his fate and whereabouts, including with the Ministry of Human Rights, the Citizens’ Affairs Office, Muthana Airport Prison and Baghdad Airport Prison. In addition, they submitted a complaint to Bayaa Court, filed a missing persons report with the Ministry of Interior and reviewed the Central Criminal Court’s detainee register.

Al Jabouri’s fate and whereabouts remain unknown to date.
