In May 2022, agents of the Saudi Presidency of State Security went to Abdullah Alduraibi’s house, knocked on his door and proceeded to search his house. They were wearing civilian clothes but identified themselves as agents of the Saudi Presidency of State Security and showed IDs to prove so. They presented a search warrant and the search lasted about 15 minutes, after which the agents confiscated Alduraibi’s phone and his laptop.
Shortly thereafter, Alduraibi was summoned to the office of the Saudi Presidency of State Security in Riyadh to answer some questions. Alduraibi has not been heard from since.
On July 22, 2022, MENA Rights Group requested the urgent intervention of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.
In April 2025, after almost three years in prison, Abdullah Alduraibi was released and reunited with his family.
